About the Artist

Marie Stone-van Vuuren Marie is an accomplished artist and illustrator with over 20 years of dedicated work experience, including exhibitions, commissions, graphic design, and layout artist. Her art is fueled by a love of classic storybook illustrations, music, film, nature, and the creative process, where she enjoys shining a light on the overlooked beauty in all creatures and inviting imaginative storytelling through her art. She works primarily in pen and ink, watercolor and graphite, and often pushes scale, color and texture to create whimsical narratives that celebrate a harmonious coexistence between animals, insects and human experience. Marie has also been a contributing artist since 2016 for Art-o-mat, which are artfully restored cigarette vending machines installed around the world and fitted to vend small works of art. Her home studio is based in North Carolina, USA.
