About Marie Stone-van Vuuren
My work is fueled by a love of classic books and illustrations for children, music, film, nature, and the creative process. I am drawn to the often-unsung splendors of our planet and enjoy inviting wonder, storytelling, imagination and delight. I work primarily in pen and ink, watercolor and graphite, and enjoy pushing scale, color and textures to playfully link animals and insects with our human experience.
Additionally, I am a contributing Art-o-mat artist (www.artomat.org), which are retired cigarette vending machines, artfully restored and converted to vend small works of art. They are installed in a wide variety of venues throughout the United States and beyond.
